Why Choose Ayla
Traveling in China can be complex. Here's how I solve the problems that trip planners and apps can't handle.
We arrive at Tianchi by 8:30 AM before the first tour buses reach the lakeshore at 10. I take you along the quieter eastern trail where Kazakh yurts dot the meadow—most groups only see the paved western boardwalk. At the far end, a hidden viewpoint frames Bogda Peak's reflection perfectly in the still morning water.
Skip the Bazaar's ground-floor food court. The real flavors are in Shandong Lane's back alleys—hole-in-the-wall shops serving hand-pulled laghman with mutton and cumin that's been simmering since dawn. I'll take you for fresh samsa from a tandoor oven and pomegranate juice pressed while you watch, in a neighborhood where the menu is only in Uyghur script.
We drive to Turpan's Jiaohe Ruins—a 2,000-year-old garrison city carved from a natural cliff plateau, abandoned intact when trade routes shifted. No reconstruction, no theme park. Then visit a family-run grape drying house in Tuyoq Valley, where Uyghur elders still press raisins using methods unchanged for centuries.
5–7 days covers one region well; 10–14 days lets you combine two. Route A: Urumqi → Turpan → Tianchi (5 days, Silk Road + alpine). Route B: Urumqi → Kanas → Hemu → Burqin (6 days, Altai wilderness). Route C adds the Duku Highway crossing between north and south Tianshan (Jun–Oct only, +3 days). I handle all domestic flights and 4WD logistics—you just enjoy the scenery.
